Two Wolves - A Cherokee Legend
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – his is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Many professionals in the mental health community are confused about what mental health actually is and how they can best support their clients to gain full wellness. They assume there's something "wrong with you" instead of recognizing that you are going through the same burdens as every human due to our biological and spiritual evolution. At Higher Consciousness Healing, we take a spiritual and scientific approach which includes fully acknowledging the "ego" in us all. Our ego drives our fears, anxieties and causes the fracturing of self (soul) during trauma. "Ego" is rooted in the brain and often has a negative impact on our health when we are not addressing our personal and emotional "baggage". We offer a healing space for our clients to process their challenges while also educating them about the brain and how trauma may be affecting their body.
We especially love working with individuals under 30 years old as many "millennials" are struggling to adjust to adulthood. Many feel lost, confused and scared for the future of the planet. We aim to bring millennials together to help support one another, and offer a weekly closed therapy group and monthly support group.
Higher Consciousness Healing uses a psychodynamic therapy approach to evaluate a client's unconscious patterns. We examine unconscious behaviors and dysfunctions that present themselves during therapy and utilizes tools to assist clients' in "unraveling" dysfunctional patterns that are harmful to them and their loved ones. With acceptance and understanding, we support our clients in taking the necessary steps to change these patterns and gain a sense of peace. To achieve this, we utilize a combination of narrative therapy, mindfulness techniques, meditation practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectics, reality testing, motivational interviewing and other tools tailored to the client’s individual needs. We aim to heal the whole person and bring them to a higher state of consciousness, peace and oneness with the divine.
