Adolescence can be the most interesting and challenging time of life. I have over seven years of experience helping adolescents and families through difficult times, solidly connecting on the basis of trust, safety, comfort, respect and understanding. My practice is limited to adolescents. Speaking what can seem to be a foreign language and creating a bridge to families through the interpretation of that language brings purpose to my work.
The most important part of adolescent therapy is creating a trusting relationship. My approach is direct and resolute, compassionate and understanding. With respect, proper support, education, and guidance, teens and families find stability, common ground, and a path to happiness and successful adulthood.
Adolescence is complicated. Changing biology and its resulting frenzy can be confusing and sometimes frightening. When young people also struggle with mental health issues, substance use, behavioral issues, processing unresolved trauma, grief, or loss, the result can be a tornado of imbalance. Families are often left to weather the storm and can feel powerless, fearful, and frustrated.
You are not alone. Countless families have benefitted from short-term therapy for issues of self-esteem, negative peer group interactions, anxiety, depression, self-harm, conduct/defiance, mood, or attachment disorders, authority issues, anger, involvement with the criminal justice system and substance use/substance use disorders.
