I support individuals and families who are seeking to change relationship, behavioral, or emotional dynamics that are hindering them from experiencing ease in their lives. I assist individuals of all ages and traditional and non-traditional families alike. I am also bilingual, in English and Spanish, and I serve clients in both languages.
I hold a Master's Degree from Naropa University in Somatic Counseling Psychology with a focus in Dance Movement Therapy. I also have post-masters training in motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and brain spotting. This eclectic therapeutic skill set allows me to individualize treatment for a wide range of individuals.
With that said, I favor the use of motivational interviewing, which is person centered and it compliments other methods. As an MI therapist, my goal is to elicit your hopes for yourself, and to work collaboratively and empathically, while directing you toward change.
As a dance/movement therapist (DMT), I believe that psychological, social, spiritual, and emotional experience is lived through the body; and through awareness of the body and its movement, we can harness and integrate these aspects of self. I believe that one must learn to feel better - have a heightened awareness of bodily experience - in order to feel better. As a DMT, my goal is to increase your body awareness and integrate your body and mind experience, so that you can reach a state of ease in your life.
