Esther Boyd

Mental Health Professionals

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado with a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Denver Seminary. I am also certified with the National Board of Certified Counselors as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and recently received my Level I in EMDR training/certification. I spent the first 6 years of my career working with adolescents who struggled with a variety of mental health issues. I also had the pleasure of being a supervisor to several therapists and continue to enjoy aiding in the process of building personal and professional identity with new counselors. My time in private practice overlapped with my time in agency work and I have enjoyed building my practice for the past 6 1/2 years. I have been in the professional counseling field for 9 years and am passionate about helping individuals find a sense of connection to themselves and to others, resulting in passionate and empowered lives.

Personal experiences that resulted in depression and broken relationships pushed me into counseling when I was 21. Having a safe place to process through my own thoughts and feelings, as well as having someone who could see connections I could not, was critical in my own healing and subsequently, in my choice to become a therapist. I developed a passion to help others find the freedom I found through my own process. Life offers challenges to all of us and I value providing support and guidance to those who are willing to take the courageous step to enter therapy.

As a therapist I believe connecting with my clients on a very "human" level is extremely important to moving forward in the healing process. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment that allows you to feel safe, while also empowering you to make choices that will bring joy to your life. As we explore the presenting problems, I attempt to help you make connections and gain insights as to how your past is influencing your present. I believe that much of our pain is a result of past wounds being triggered by present events. I utilize sound psychological techniques combined with empathic understanding to help you find a greater sense freedom and joy.
