Welcome to the psychotherapy practice of Jennifer Lafond, MA, LPC, EMDR (Master’s level, Licensed Professional Counselor, Trained in EMDR). I have been supporting people through some of the most difficult challenges of their lives for over fifteen years and love being there for people in their time of greatest need. I believe relationships are essential to our well being and that a therapeutic relationship can be deeply healing and transformative.
The key to this relationship is finding some one you can connect with, feel safe with, trust and ultimately be able to open up to with honesty. The therapeutic relationship can help you heal from a wide variety of issues. Research shows that regardless of the technique the therapist uses, it is the relationship itself that offers the deepest healing potential.
How do you know if someone is the right fit? It really comes down to how you feel in the presence of this other person. Can you connect? Listen to your gut, tune in to your body and notice how you feel emotionally in their presence. Therapy is a dynamic process between two people. Together we will identify what issues you’d like to work on and I will guide you toward integration and resolution of those issues. Understand I don’t have all the answers for you, more so I can help you access the answers you seek within yourself.
My style is one full of empathy, compassion and a deep understanding of psychological processes. The way I work has been influenced by Carl Jung, Eastern philosophy and Mindfulness meditation, creativity/ flow, Client centered approaches, Yoga, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, Transpersonal psychology and EMDR. In our work together, we will attempt to achieve a balance between challenging what is no longer serving you, validating what is working and recognizing all of your incredible strengths.
I graduated from Lesley University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree. My studies were in art therapy and human services.
