Change can be hard, even when what we are doing is not working. Many challenges we encounter are based on habits/patterns, which at one point may have been helpful but no longer serve our needs. My role as a psychologist is to facilitate awareness and understanding of these repetitive cycles, and help clients confront obstacles that interfere with leading the lives they desire. A safe, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation to begin this exploration, and I believe in the healing this connection offers. A healthy dose of humor also helps in the process.
I collaborate with clients to notice ways they interact with others, and also work to understand the relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. By integrating skills-based and depth-oriented approaches, my clients become better able to respond, not react, to different situations and stressors.
I have specialized training in Family Treatment (Maudsley) for eating disorders and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for emotional disorders. In addition to treatment, I offer supervision and consultation. Good therapy promotes curiosity, awareness, and growth that is meaningful and enduring. Our first step is a free phone consultation.
